Temple Emanuel invites you to our 16th annual Shabbat Service honoring civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., featuring special guest speaker Reverend Diane Givens Moffett. Diane’s husband, A&T University Jazz Orchestra Director, Mondre Moffet will join in as a guest performer. The voices of the Community Theatre of Greensboro’s production of “Hairspray” will also join us for a musical celebration.

About Rev. Diane Givens Moffett
In addition to being a preacher and pastor, Reverend Moffett is the author of Beyond Greens and Cornbread: Reflections of African American Christian Identity published by Judson Press. The book presents sermonic poems, scripture reading and reflections that inspire and motivate its readers. Dr. Moffett’s sermon, “Giving Birth” is featured in Outstanding Black Sermons published by Judson Press and her sermon “Mustard Seed Faith” was published in “Those Preachin’ Women, Volume 4″, Judson Press. She has two articles in the most recent journal, “Call to Worship – Liturgy, Music, Preaching &The Arts,” the official journal of The Presbyterian Association of Musicians. These articles are entitled “Celebrating the Birthday of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” and “Black History Month.” Most recently her sermon, A Fruitful Partnership, was listed in the African American Pulpit Journal Winter Edition 2008.
